Medication and Symptoms

Mason was told he could go to school and resume normal activity, but the steroid medication has caused extreme tiredness and mood changes. He also has just dropped his head unexpectedly, fallen, and walks very drowsy. A couple times we've wondered if he lost conscious. He seems to be in a state of confusion at times, or just extremely drowsy. We were told drugs could do this but are also scared of his condition. He wakes up and requests to do something and then eyes roll and shut.

He knows he has a cancerous tumor so he has begun the questioning. We remain positive of the upcoming radiation and chemo treatments to shrink the tumor. We've been told it lasts 6 weeks (Monday thru Friday) This evening he was alert and we had a great dinner and some laughs. It's amazing how quickly this came upon us. We did notice the week before how incredibly difficult it was for him roller skating. Now we cherish every laugh and every smile and try not to show the excruciation pain inside our hearts. Please pray for our Mason. He is the sweetest most loving son and we are the luckiest mom and dad.

Our first appointment is Thursday, we will be told more details of treatment at the KC Cancer Center in Overland Park.

Any kid who gets headaches has us concerned. We've been looking for the reason behind Gavin's but still have no answers. When we heard about Mason having headaches it got us just as concerned but never would have thought is was something like this.
Mason is a good kid. Smart and active. It is always fun to watch he and Gavin play together. We are thankful to have him in our home and the influence he has on Gavin. Mason thinks things through and we hope Gavin picks up on that.
You are great parents to have such a wonderful family with Mason as a great leading son to start it all.
We hope to have many more memories with him and all of you.
Let us know what we can do to help. All of you are in our prayers.

Eddie and Andria,
You know that I am at your service for anything you need; a babysitter for Ally and Maverick, someone to talk to and play with, bring doughnuts and special treats, take care of Milo or what ever you want!
Put my number on speed dial. I will be there for you in a flash!
love,
Celia

Eddie,
Thank you for the link to this website and for letting me know of Mason's condition. I am SO sorry to hear of this news and please know that I will lift up you and your family in my daily prayers!
Please feel free to use me as a resource if desired as my Mom struggled with treatments for lung cancer that had spread to her brain and is currently losing that battle but your son is so young and there are so many possibilities and options (along with miracles)!

My step-sister has been in the oncology field all of her professional career and has been a great resource and has directed us towards alternate paths when our primary doctor felt nothing more could be done.
I know you are strong and it looks like you have a great support team started here...

Sincerely,
John E. Quinton, Jr.

You were with us through our struggles. Now, know we are with you. Eddie and Andria-remember to sleep. Though sleeping will be a struggle at first, it is well needed to keep you both strong. Take care of your (whole!!) family, and they will be doing the same. Your friends (and co-workers) will be doing a lot of praying!

Mason,
Of all the people that have showed love for you on this blog know that God has an even bigger blog with way more followers and even way more people cheering you on. Keep loving and living life. Clarity will follow.
